60+ attend Successful Working Bee at the Collinsvale Town Park

A number of locals were joined by about 50 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from Glenorchy on Saturday 14th Oct to continue the redevelopment of the Old Recreation Ground - now known as the Town Park.

In 2005, the Community Association, in conjunction with Collinsvale School and Glenorchy City Council planted over 300 native trees and shrubs. The Council also developed an overall plan for the Park incorporating seating, vegetation plantings, historical and environmental displays.

The Community Association has worked with Rosetta High School staff and students to provide a number of substantial seats for the park. these seats are being offered to families and individuals with a connection to Collinsvale to purchase and have placed in the park as a permanent historical family record and memorial to our past. eventually the seats will be linked by a path around the park which will lead the visitor through a series of interpretive panels telling them about the local and natural history of the area

One of the seats in the park and an example of one families memorial plaque to be fixed to a seat. Each Brass plaque is 170mm x 50mm in size

Some general scenes of the work under way.

We spread over 10cubic metres of mulch, levelled the seats and cleared some graffitti from the bus shelter as well as weeding and restaking the trees and shrubs. Many thanks to all the volunteers who attended and made such short work of the jobs.
